Thomas Rhett is truly living the dream. On top of having a wildly successful career in country music as an artist and songwriter, the 26-year-old also has a picture perfect marriage with his high school sweetheart, Lauren.

The couple recently celebrated their fourth anniversary, an occasion that may not have happened had they listened to some of the people around them. “Everybody was telling us not to … but we just fell in love at a young age,” Rhett told People. “The first year she was on the bus with me 285 days, sharing a bunk, which is smaller than a twin bed. It’s been five years on the road now.”

The Georgia native again put those doubters to rest when he wrote his CMA award-winning “Die A Happy Man.”

“I really did just wake up one day and was like, ‘I have yet to write a song about her.’ That’s just one of those cheesy things you do for your girlfriend when you’re 16, but I decided to do it when I was 25,” he explained.

“Die A Happy Man” wasn’t the first song Rhett wrote for his bride, however. His current single, “Star of the Show,” is one he wrote with his dad about Lauren years ago and recently shared it with fans on the deluxe edition of his Tangled Up album.

“‘Star of the Show’ is one of those songs that I have lived with for a while and kept coming up as a song we needed to record and get to the fans,” Rhett said when the single was revealed. “I wrote it with my dad right after I got married, and it was the first song I ever wrote about Lauren. It was a staple in our set before we had any hits and fans still request it to this day.”

Thomas and Lauren will continue to be the stars of each other’s shows while touring the country together during his 2017 Home Team Tour with Kelsea Ballerini, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd.
