When it comes to launching his headlining tour, Thomas Rhett is ready to step up to bat. The budding superstar will hit the road hard in 2017 for his Home Team Tour.

The responsibility of choosing which artists to include as opening acts is a daunting task, but a welcome experience, for the first-time solo headliner.

“I feel like all I’m doing is listening to the new kids. I say kids, I feel like I’m an old man now. But I love getting to hear all the Kelsea Ballerini’s and the Maren Morris’s and the you know the Chris Lane’s and the Jon Pardi’s and all these people that are coming up who are putting out great albums and great singles,” said Rhett. “It’s just fun to think about you know I’ve always wondered how an artist actually gets to pick his middle slot and now it’s like, well dang. This is weird that all this is my decision. It’s like who do you bring on the road? How much production do you take? And it’s a lot more responsibility but it’s a fun responsibility.”

Rhett certainly didn’t strike out when it came to choosing his team of openers, which includes Ballerini, Russell Dickerson and Ryan Hurd. Equally as excited for her part in the tour is Ballerini, who’s had a massive year of her own.

“I love him and his wife. We’re all friends, so to be able to tour with your friends is very fun and I’m gonna hopefully warm the stage up for him, nice and hot every night,” she told Sounds Like Nashville.

Thomas Rhett’s tour will likely bear no strikes when it kicks off on February 23 in Saginaw, MI.
