Thomas Rhett Thinks ‘Vacation’ is the ‘Most Perfect Summer Jam’
Rhett might have been a little apprehensive with adding "Vacation" to his setlist back in January, but thankfully fans responded in a very positive manner.
With the summer months in full swing, Thomas Rhett went on a limb and released his song, “Vacation,” to country radio. Thankfully, many fans got on board with the upbeat track and have embraced its laidback feel.
At first though, Rhett was nervous to incorporate the song in both radio and into his live shows. Recognizing that he was going to put the song into his setlist back in January, he didn’t know how the crowd would react to such a tropical-inspired song thrown into a winter concert. But when he saw all of the fan reactions at his shows, he knew he made the right decision and decided to give the song even more life when the weather got warmer.
“The fact that it went over so well live was the reason that I wanted to put it out as a single in the first place. ‘Cause we had been playing it since January of this year and the record came out in September and so honestly, I was a little bit nervous to put it in the show, just curious how it would have gone over live. Since the beginning, even watching kids’ faces that don’t even know the words, they’re just rocking to it. I think there’s something about the melody that just makes you feel good. And so, never have I had a three-month summer window to put out, for me, the most perfect summer jam. So, that’s where we’re at right now. Still, to this day, it’s one of my favorite songs to play live, so we’re just rockin’ it through the summer, and hopefully helping people pretend like they’re on vacation,” Rhett explained.
Rhett has been taking advantage of the summer when he has days off from tour to go on vacations to his favorite spots. Come September, he’ll be back on the road with Jason Aldean for the Six String Circus Tour followed by a quick seven date European tour in November.
