A celebration is surely in order for Thomas Rhett because he just took home the award for the ACM Song of the Year for his hit, “Die a Happy Man.”

After Rhett got over the shock of his name being called, he gave his wife a big hug and rubbed her pregnant belly before he strolled to the stage to claim his prize.

“Thank you guys so much, thank you to the ACM,” Rhett said to the cheering crowd. “Thank you to my beautiful wife, my beautiful pregnant wife Lauren over there, this song’s inspiration was because of you.”

The ACM Song of the Year category honors the artists’ work as well as some of the people typically seen behind the making of the song. The award not only goes to the artist, but their songwriters and publishers as well.

“I want to thank my cowriters Sean Douglas and Joe Spargur who couldn’t be here with us but love you bro,” Rhett continued. “I got to thank God for this, I’m overwhelmed I didn’t think this was gonna happen. Thank you so much, peace.”

This year, the category for ACM Song of the Year was stacked with nominees like “Blue Ain’t Your Color” by Keith Urban, “Humble and Kind” by Tim McGraw, “Kill a Word” by Eric Church featuring Rhiannon Giddens, “Tennessee Whiskey” by Chris Stapleton and “Vice” by Miranda Lambert.

The 52nd Annual ACM Awards were hosted by Dierks Bentley and Luke Bryan, and celebrated right in the heart of Las Vegas.
