Riding jet skis in blue jeans is probably not practical, but it sure makes a great music video for Alan Jackson’s 1993 hit “Chatahoochee,” an ode to coming of age on the iconic river banks.

The music video that accompanies the track is a prime example of the 90s at its best. It opens with Jackson riding jet skis in faded, ripped blue jeans while his buddies are mudding along the banks, ultimately trying to impress the pretty girl. As the video continues, growing up in small town life is chronicled with interruptions of shots back to Jackson catching some gnarly waves… while yes, still in jeans.

Not only did the “Chatahoochee” music video become marked with fame and is remembered 24 years later, but the single performed commercially well for Jackson as well. “Chatahoochee” went on to win the future hall-of-famer awards for single, song and music video of the year. In addition, it graced the top of the Billboard airplay charts and was even at the No. 1 spot on Billboard’s 1993 top US country songs chart.

Now that “Chatahoochee” is undoubtedly stuck in your head, make sure you get out and see him at his free show in Nashville this Saturday (June 3) prior to the Nashville Predators’ Stanley Cup game 3.
