Kenny Chesney’s specialty may be iconic summertime tours, but that doesn’t mean the country singer doesn’t enjoy the other most wonderful time of the year. In 2003, Chesney marked his love for Christmas by releasing his holiday album, All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan.

The 11-track project features classics such as “Silver Bells,” “Silent Night,” “I’ll Be Home for Christmas” and “Jingle Bells,” all which have hints of island vibes and Chesney’s signature sound. Holiday originals are also weaved into the tracklist including “Just a Kid,” “The Angel at the Top of My Tree” and the title track.

“All I want for Christmas is a real good tan/Take me to the islands, put my feet in the sand/Rockin’ to and fro with the rhythm of the ocean/Singin’ Silent Night with the palm trees a-blowing,” the Tennessee native sings the chorus of “All I Want for Christmas is a Real Good Tan.”

Chesney made the album a family affair by including a duet of “Silent Night” with his Mother and Aunt, who are twin sisters. The traditional hymn is kept reverent as he and his family sing the final chorus together in harmony.

Beyond the help from his female family members, Chesney tapped into his music buddies for some help, too. Randy Owen of Alabama is featured on the Alabama original “Christmas in Dixie” and Willie Nelson lended his voice for “Pretty Paper,” a track he previously recorded.

Although we’re counting down the days until we get to see Chesney perform in the warm summer months, this album helps hold us over until then.
