Throwback Thursday: Remember When Jason Aldean Teamed Up with Kelly Clarkson for ‘Don’t You Wanna Stay’ at the CMA Awards?

Jason Aldean is just one day away from releasing his new album, They Don’t Know. Featured on that project is a track titled “First Time Again,” a breakup tune that features fellow country singer Kelsea Ballerini.

But way back when, or at least six years ago, there was another female singer standing by Aldean’s side lending their talents to his tracks: Kelly Clarkson. The two partnered up for the 2010 hit, “Don’t You Wanna Stay.”

During the 44th Annual CMA Awards, Aldean and Clarkson took the stage to deliver the single live on national television for the first time. The duo dressed elegantly in all black, and naturally Aldean sporting a cowboy hat, the two sang the tune with such chemistry that resulted in an outstanding performance.

They both shared their alternating choruses with power and emotion and by the end audience members were on their feet to offer the pair a round of applause and standing ovation. We suggest you watch the video above for a nice refresher of the memorable performance to get you even more excited for the new record and the upcoming award show in November.

“Don’t You Wanna Stay” was the third single from Aldean’s 2010 record, My Kinda Party. It went on to reach the top spot on the U.S. Hot Country charts as well as being RIAA certified 2X Platinum, for selling more than 2 million units. The track also won Vocal Event of the Year at the 2011 CMA Awards.

They Don’t Know, Aldean’s seventh studio album, is slated for release on Sept. 9.
