Georgia-native Jason Aldean may be the reigning ACM Entertainer of the Year, but that doesn’t mean he won’t experiment with other genres.

During a sold out 2013 show at University of Georgia’s Sanford Stadium, one of the largest outdoor venues in the country, Aldean took genre blurring a step further when he invited Grammy-winning artist Ludacris on stage to help him rap the verses of his 2010 hit “Dirt Road Anthem.”

Aldean was finishing up the first chorus of the track when he abruptly pointed stage left while shouting “Luda!” to welcome his new friend on the stage.

“Man I’m feeling like a million dollars/Stacked up all hundred dollar bills/Got a whole six-pack on ice/But I’m ridin’ on the hottest wheels/Seat back and I’m perwin’ swervin’,” Ludacris, who was donning an University of Georgia letterman’s jacket, rapped as the audience erupted in cheers. “Put my pedal to the metal like I’m racing/Turn it up and let the speakers scream for Mr. Aldean/But I call him Jason.”

Despite the difference in sound, the two look comfortable on stage together, Aldean is feeding off Ludacris’ energy and vice versa. While Aldean is singing the chorus, Ludacris chimes in with some appropriately timed “heeeeey!” and “whoooos.”

Though the performance was out of this world, fans shouldn’t have been too surprised. During the 2011 CMT Awards, Ludacris hopped on stage with the country star for the same rendition.

“Dirt Road Anthem” went on to be a smash for Aldean, landing at the top of the Billboard Country Airplay chart and being certified platinum.

You can catch Aldean sing his songbook classic on his current They Don’t Know tour featuring openers Chris Young and Kane Brown. The trek kicks off tonight (April 27) in Toledo, OH and will run through the fall.
