The Ryman Auditorium was on fire last night as Tim McGraw and Faith Hill made their first joint appearance on the iconic stage. The husband and wife of 20 years (their anniversary is tomorrow) officially announced their joint 2017 Soul2Soul Tour and gave the sold-out crowd a taste of what to expect.

The show kicked off with a short video clip of the couple throughout their careers and lives together. After the clip, the couple walked to the stage and was greeted with raucous applause and a standing ovation from their excited fans and friends (Martina McBride, Little Big Town, Liz Rose, Tara Thompson, Lori McKenna and many more attended) who filled the venue.

Kicking the nearly hour and a half set off was the couple’s song “It’s Your Love,” which first rang in country fans’ ears back in 1997. The crowd could hardly contain its cool as a standing ovation was almost immediate after the song’s conclusion.

“So we are going back on the road,” announced Hill. “We are gonna go from side to side, south to north, all the way around the globe.”

“2017, we’re going back on the road. We’re gonna do the Soul2Soul Tour. We’ve been looking forward to this for a long time. This is what this is all about. We got everybody together so we could tell you all that and now we’re going home,” joked McGraw. “No, we thought that since we had everybody together in one room, we’re going to play a few songs for you tonight.”

Hill kicked off the show with her hits “This Kiss,” “Mississippi Girl,” “Cry” and “Stronger.” The mom-of-three was clearly pumped and ready to go as she strutted back and forth across the Ryman stage, showing off her killed vocals (and legs!). Hill is more than ready to hit the road again and her fans are more than excited to take the journey with her.

After Hill’s six song set, she was rejoined by her hubby for another duet, this time for McGraw’s song “Angry All The Time.”

After Faith walked off stage, McGraw took some time to show fans what he does best. The crooner kicked off his set with his 1999 smash “Something Like That,” before admitting to the audience that he was nervous. McGraw also took a moment to tip his hat to the songwriters of Music City before launching into “Humble and Kind.” He then pointed to the balcony at the songwriter, Lori McKenna, before saying “you’re pretty good at this.”

The couple joined forces for a third time to sing “Like We Never Loved at All” and concluded with Dolly Parton & Kenny Rogers’ “We Got Tonight.” The couple said their goodbyes, embraced and walked off stage. The audience wasn’t ready to bid the couple farewell, however, as many fans began beating on the pews, awaiting the couple’s return.

The lights came back on to two chairs and one microphone placed front and center on the stage. McGraw and Hill emerged from side stage to perform one last song… “I Need You.” The moment gave the audience all the goosies as the legendary singers sounded just as good singing it as they did when they recorded it nearly 10 years ago. One thing is for sure… there is no slowing down this country music royal couple. If the Soul2Soul Tour is coming to a city near you, be sure to pick up your tickets quick – it’ll be one you won’t want to miss.
