Tim McGraw is throwing his acting cap back on and this time, his role is going to take a lot more emotions out of his repertoire than ever before.

While McGraw didn’t check out “The Shack” before taking on a part in the upcoming film, he knew off the bat that the story would be a captivating one across the screen based on the intensity of the script.

“I had certainly heard of the book, and actually had the book at home and had planned on reading it, but hadn’t had the opportunity, and then I read the script and, I mean, the script tore me apart,” said McGraw. “It’s just so moving and so painful and so redemptive at the same time.”

After landing the part, McGraw immediately read the book to see what all the fuss was about. Diving into a deep connection with the story and his character, he established an empathized view on the book and what it means to so many of its fans.

“It just speaks to you. It’s such a moving piece of work about how you can pick up the pieces of your life and how you can sort of find that light and strive to be positive toward people and bring something good out of a terrible situation,” said McGraw.

While the movie does not come out in theaters until November, McGraw doesn’t have time to slow down. He’ll be touring the festival route throughout the summer while continuing to promote his latest single, “Humble and Kind,” which is climbing the charts week by week.
