It’s that time of year when summer comes to a close and school is back in session for all kids from kindergarten to college. As a parent to three daughters, Tim McGraw has seen his babies grow up year after year and now his oldest, Gracie, is enjoying her second year of college life.

While McGraw remains sentimental about Gracie being out of the house, he also understands that this is just one of the many big steps his children will take as they mature and become the young adults they want to be.

Last year, Gracie decided to move out of the family home and embrace the life of starting out in a new place. McGraw still misses her, but knows she is shining bright as a college student in her own right.

“It’s beautiful and it’s sad all at one time. You know, you can’t wait for them to sort of see what they make of themselves and do with themselves when they get out from under your umbrella, but you’re also nervous and sad because you’re gonna miss ‘em. And it was challenging for sure, but you know, we have a lot of confidence in her.  I’m a huge fan of hers, not only as an artist, but also as a person. She’s just a great, great kid and brings such a light and energy to what she does,” he explained.

McGraw and Hill will have to make the transition two more times as their daughters Maggie and Audrey make the big move in years to come.

McGraw is currently promoting his latest single, “How I’ll Always Be,” from his current album, Damn Country Music, heard now on country radio. He also co-stars alongside the guys of Florida Georgia Line in the music video for their new single, “May We All.”
