Tim McGraw Shares Emotional Video of Nashville Teacher with Cancer

Break out those tissues immediately because Tim McGraw posted a video to his Facebook page that could make even a grown man cry.

Over the weekend, McGraw shared a clip of a Nashville high school teacher with cancer who got the biggest surprise right in his backyard as more than 400 students from his school showed up to sing a worship song for him. The Latin and Bible Studies teacher, Ben Ellis, has been battling cancer and the group of students plus faculty wanted to do something special in order to raise his spirits after going through treatment for a while.

The gesture not only touched Ellis and his wife, but also McGraw and many of his fans who shared their love and prayers to the teacher.

“A friend sent this to me today. Ben Ellis is a Nashville area high school teacher battling cancer. The entire student body (400+ students plus HS faculty) drove to his house to worship with him. Our thoughts and Prayers are with him and his family….. So precious and kind,” said McGraw in his Facebook post.

The video of the emotional moment has now been viewed at least 20 million times on Facebook and some fans even wrote their personal positive experiences of having Ellis as a teacher in the comments of McGraw’s post.

Nate Morrow, the headmaster of Christian Presbyterian Academy, noted that this is how their school’s community always pulls together, even when times are tough. He also commented on Ellis’ influential character on the school overall and how his presence has made such a difference in many students’ lives for the better.

“Ben’s message is to love others well,” Morrow said to The Tennessean. “He’s done such a good job teaching us that, that we wanted to do that for him.”
