While a lot of people in America know just what diabetes is, some don’t know the specific details regarding the disease and certain facts that have to do with getting diagnosed.

In a video for America’s Diabetes Challenge by Merck, Tim McGraw gets on-the-street responses from people about one question: What is A1C? Taking the question out to the city, people take their guess at what they assume it means. Some more than others gave hysterical responses like a steak sauce or a food group.

What A1C really is, though, is a test one can take to determine their blood sugar level for the past two to three months. It’s recommended by many doctors to get this test done to make sure patients of the disease are treating themselves properly and getting the correct nutrition they need.

The country singer has teamed up with Merck to help out with America’s Diabetes Challenge alongside other stars, such as S. Epatha Merkerson and Chef Leticia Moreinos Schwartz. Wanting to raise awareness for the disease that affects many 30 million people in the United States, McGraw has been lending a face to the cause in order to get more people in tune with their health.

McGraw just released his song, “How I’ll Always Be,” as the follow-up to his meaningful hit, “Humble and Kind,” off his current studio album, Damn Country Music.
