Tim McGraw Talks Faith Hill Proposal Story

Faith Hill, Tim McGraw - 49th Annual ACM Awards - CountryMusicIsLove

Yesterday (10/6), Tim McGraw and Faith Hill celebrated their 19th wedding anniversary.

To mark the occasion, McGraw shared a sweet video talking about the moment he asked Hill to be his wife.

We were in the dressing room here,” McGraw says in the video that was filmed at the Taste of Country Festival in Grand Junction, CO. “June 26, 1996, we were in a dressing room and it was trailer houses then. It was rainy and stuff. We’d been on tour for awhile together and I joked around with her about getting married. So I said… I looked at her, I grabbed her by the hand… It was right before I went onstage. She had just finished her show and I said ‘I’m really serious. I want you to marry me.’ She laughed and she said ‘We’re at a country music festival in a trailer house and you’re asking me to marry you?’ And I said ‘Yeah.’”

He continued, “So I went onstage and in my dressing room I had this fold out case that had a mirror in it that was sort of my dressing armoire or road case. And I still have it to this day. When I came back off stage, in sharpie with lipstick at the end of it, lipstick kiss, it said ‘Yes, I’m going to be your wife.’ And it had I love you and big lipstick kisses. And this is the place right here.”

At the end of the clip, you can see what the trailers may have looked like at the time, as well as McGraw filming the audience saying “We love you, Faith!”
