Trace Adkins is strapping on his pistol and heading out to the Wild West with a role in the new movie Hickok. The baritone singer will team up with Kris Kristofferson and Luke Hemsworth for the thrilling frontier film.

According to the film’s YouTube trailer, Hemsworth stars as gun slinging outlaw “Wild Bill” Hickok, who attempts to settle down in Abilene, Kansas. The mayor (Kristofferson) is impressed by Hickok’s gun skills and offers him the job as town marshal.

Things go well until a band of outlaws threaten the laws put in place by the new town marshal. Among those outlaws causing a stir is saloon owner Phil Poe (Adkins), whose relationship with Bill’s ex (Cameron Richardson) adds tension. After a bounty is placed on his head by Poe, Hickok sets out to fight the bandits and save the small town of Abilene.

The movie is not the first time Adkins and Kristofferson have worked together. The two co-starred in the 2016 film Traded, another Western.

Adkins long list of movie roles continues to grow with Hickok as the latest addition. Previously, the singer has starred in several others Westerns, including Stagecoach: The Texas Jack Story and Wyatt Earp’s Revenge, as well as earning roles in film’s opposite Matthew McConaughey, Mark Wahlberg and Patricia Heaton.

Hickok will premiere in 10 cities across the United States on July 7, where it will also be available for purchase On Demand or Digital HD services.
