Trisha Yearwood has one of country music’s most beloved voices. With songs like “Walkaway Joe,” “She’s In Love With The Boy,” and “How Do I Live,” the Georgia native as cemented herself as a staple in the genre’s vibrant history.

With years under her belt as one of the genre’s most cherished singers, it’s no surprise that the Georgia native has a long list of special memories that she cherishes so deeply. With the 51st Annual CMA Awards quickly approaching, Yearwood shared two special recollections that she cherishes above them all.

“One was winning the Female Vocalist of the Year the first time because I had been the Susan Lucci of the CMAs,” Yearwood recently told Sounds Like Nashville and other media with a laugh. “I had been nominated like five years in a row and never won, so it was really great. I’m really glad it went that way, because when I won it was so wonderful.”

Her second memory had to do with the love of her life, fellow artist and superstar Garth Brooks.

“Then last year, the 50th anniversary of the CMAs… Getting a chance to perform with Garth and do all those classic duets, and then also see him win entertainer. That was pretty sweet.”

Yearwood will likely return to this year’s CMA Awards presentation as Brooks is once again nominated for the night’s top prize of Entertainer of the Year.

The 51st Annual CMA Awards, hosted by Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, will air live from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, November 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Fans can view a complete list of CMA Awards nominees HERE.
