Trisha Yearwood Honored With ASCAP Voice Of Music Award

Trisha Yearwood was honored with ASCAP’s Voice of Music Award the 53rd Annual ASCAP Country Music Awards, held at Nashville’s Omni Hotel Monday night (Nov. 2). Surprise guest Justin Timberlake made an introduction to Yearwood and the award, while President Jimmy Carter attended to present the prestigious award to Yearwood, his longtime friend and fellow Georgia native.

On hand to honor the award-winning singer with special performances were Lady Antebellum, who absolutely slayed “Walkaway Joe,” Garth Brooks’ youngest daughter Allie Brooks, who took the stage to sing “She’s In Love With The Boy,” and Reba, who who delivered a stunning rendition of “The Song Remembers When.”

Prior to the ceremony, Sounds Like Nashville caught up with several artists, who shared their admiration with Yearwood.

“I think Trisha, in a way, had an influence on all of us,” Kip Moore told us.

“They asked us if we wanted to sing, we all said yes, and can we sing ‘Walk Away Joe,'” Lady A’s Dave Haywood recalled.

“Hillary [Scott] was even just on another level of excited; Trisha is her all-time favorite Country artist,” Charles Kelley added.
