Tristan McIntosh Gives Emotional Performance of ‘What Hurts the Most’

Following last week’s always-emotional group rounds, American Idol moved forward single performances last night, giving contestants a chance to perform with a full band for the first time.

Nashville’s Tristan McIntosh made her way to the stage for a tear-jerking performance of the Rascal Flatts hit, “What Hurts the Most.”

She dedicated the performance to her mom, Major Amy McIntosh, who, if you remember, had returned from overseas in time to watch Tristan’s audition.

Unfortunately, the judges do not provide immediate commentary at this stage in the competition, so the 15-year-old was feeling a bit of uncertainty.

Following their performances, contestants were separated into three different rooms and awaited the judges’ arrival to learn their fate. Fortunately for Tristan, her performance was enough and she joined the 51 remaining contestants for the final stage of Hollywood Week.

Tonight, American Idol will reveal its Top 24. Will Tristan make the cut? Find out at 8/7c on FOX.
