Tyler Rich may be new to country music, but not to love as he describes “The Difference” between just friends and romantic partners in his new single.

Growing up in Northern California doesn’t sound like the typical upbringing of a country star, but from the time he was a young boy, Rich found himself passionate about music coming from George Strait to Garth Brooks and anyone in between. His grandparents surprised him with a guitar one Christmas and he stayed hooked ever since.

Turning his dream of being a country star into a reality, Rich notched a deal with The Valory Music Co. and got right back to business with a romantic notion at heart for his debut track. He noticed that the simple change in words exchanged by two people can completely change their relationship, and Rich wanted to come out of the friend zone to fall in love.

With lyrics like “Yeah, there’s a hell of a difference in sayin’ three words / Or kinda just meanin’ two / There’s a difference in ‘love ya’ and ‘I love you’ / And I wanna be the difference,” Rich definitely put his heart out there through lyric and his powerful vocal on the song.

Although there’s been no updates on whether Rich relates to this song in his own life, it’s sure to be said that the singer just wanted to put out a jam that almost everyone who listens can relate to since they’ve been in that awkward middle position before.

“The Difference” is available to stream or purchase now.
