Country singer William Michael Morgan is about as traditional sounding as they come, so when it came time to release his new single the singer decided to poke a little fun at what mainstream country music sounds like.

The track, entitled “Brokenhearted,” jokes about how the genre is chock-full of songs about partying and love, but none tell age-old country yarns of loss and despair.

“Ain’t no crying in your beer / Ain’t no she walked out the door / Ain’t nobody brokenhearted in country music anymore,” he croons in the chorus.

“Country music is changing, the world is changing,” Morgan said in a press release. “Everybody is having a good time at their bonfires and, trust me, I love a bonfire and the whole idea of cold beers flowing, girls on the tailgate. But people also work, people have real lives and go through bad times. The whole message of the song is, ‘Ain’t nobody brokenhearted in country music anymore?’”

The catchy tune was co-written by Rhett Akins, J.T. Harding and Marv Green, and is the first taste of WMM’s followup to his critically acclaimed debut 2016 debut, Vinyl.
