Willie Nelson may be in recovery time, but he’s coming back to the music scene with a vengeance by planning for his next full-length release in Last Man Standing.

Working once again with his long-time collaborating partner, Buddy Cannon, the two went all in for this anticipated project by writing each of the 11 tracks listed. Not skipping a beat in the studio, the country singer hopes to continue telling his story of legendary wit and prosperity within the music industry.

Nelson even released the title track from the album out on Friday (2/16), in which he sings about losing all the ones around him that he cares deeply about. Realizing the bittersweet emotion which comes with outliving everyone he knows, Nelson charms the listener with his cheeky lyric and implies that he might want to be the sole survivor despite grieving the innocent lives left behind.

In recent news, Nelson has been on the mend since coming down with a sever bout of the flu. Causing him to cancel shows for the majority of January and the rest of February, many fans got concerned over the status of his health. The singer reassured everyone, though, that he was fighting strong and enjoying his rest time in order to get back on the right track for the long haul.

Still up on the schedule for Nelson includes his headlining performance at the 2018 Luck Reunion held right outside Austin, Texas, near Nelson’s property in the area.

Willie Nelson’s Last Man Standing comes out on Friday, April 27.
