College football fans were glued to their televisions Monday night (Jan. 8) as the Alabama Crimson Tide faced off against the Georgia Bulldogs in this year’s heated NCAA National Championship game. Held at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Arena, the game was a tough match-up, with the Crimson Tide taking the W in overtime.

Ahead of the game, however, Georgia fans Zac Brown Band stepped center field to perform “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Joined by David Walker and High Praise, the GRAMMY-winning group perfected the highly-technical tune, highlighting their legendary harmonies.

ZBB wasn’t alone in the center of the field as President Trump, accompanied by men and women of the armed forces, stood nearby at attention for the historic moment. As the group closed the anthem, the anxious college football fans couldn’t help but explode with excitement over the performance they’d just witnessed and for the game they’d soon watch.

While Zac Brown’s team didn’t end up taking the title, the moment was more than enough for the singer, who later tweeted “Thank you for the honor to sing our National Anthem.”

Zac Brown Band will enjoy a bit of downtime over the next few weeks before heading into GRAMMY season where they are currently vying for Best Country Duo/Group Performance for “My Old Man.” The track appeared on the group’s most recent release, Welcome Home.
