She’s been a part of country collaborations before, but Kelly Clarkson is earning some big points by singing with country duo Dan + Shay on their new song called “Keeping Score.”

Rather than counting the days and making a list of all the good times with one another, the guys and Clarkson powerfully sing the message of savoring the little things rather than letting distractions from love add up over time. While sunsets seem like forever and love makes that lasting impression, it’s more about letting go of a sense of time over tracking the logistical side of a relationship.

They all bring their vocals up to their strongest points on the chorus, saying, “I know I’m only human / don’t know how many sunsets I got left / and I don’t want to ruin / this moment by wondering what comes next.” At the end of the day, Dan + Shay just wanted to put out a romantic message without overthinking the facts and figures, which is exactly what “Keeping Score” lives on.

The latest release from Dan + Shay follows their smash hit, “Tequila,” as well as their wedding-inspired number called “Speechless” and another song by the name of “Alone Together.” Fans continue to count down the days until the entire album arrives, in which the two also anticipate great things to come from their latest sound.

“Keeping Score” will be one of the tracks on Dan + Shay’s upcoming self-titled album, which will hit shelves on Friday, June 22.
