Cole Swindell takes a fun approach at matters of the heart in the third installment of his Down Home Sessions EP. The project features five tracks which all recreate memories of early days in a relationship whether it be the initial pick-up line, the anticipation of a phone call or the first revelation of feelings.

Each song tells a story and is accompanied by elements of heavy production. Swindell is candid in this project and is a co-writer on every tune, revealing different sides of his personality in an EP that is relatable to any blossoming couple.

“You’ve Goy My Number” opens with heavy electric guitar riffs that set the scene of a typical Saturday night out. The upbeat tempo combined with Swindell’s vocals strike the urge to dance along with the beat. Any girl looking to make a significant other jealous should turn to this track for tips.

Swindell showcases his sense of humor in “Does it Hurt,” a song that might cause fans to chuckle. Every girl has an experience with cheesy pick-up lines and Swindell brings those interactions to life in this cut that uses those same pick-up lines to tell a story. The production element of his speaking voice responding to a failed pick-up make this song memorable while appealing to a listener’s empathetic side that make you want to give him a hug for his attempted efforts.

“Six Pack Lines” and “Chevrolet DJ” showcase the exciting parts of a relationship, the times when all you want to do is shout out your feelings and spend every minute with them, even in the mundane moments like driving in your truck.

And what is a country-inspired love album without talks of dismissing crowded bars for a night between two lovers spent in nature? The closing track, “Wildlife,” depicts just this. The final song wraps up the project in with a country couple’s dream set to music.

This EP delivers tracks that will fit in nicely with the coincided tour that will appear in clubs all across the country. There’s no groundbreaking song on the album, but the upbeat and fun elements will keep it spinning in cars and bars until his next mega hit arrives.
