Florida Georgia Line Proves ‘Anything Goes’ During Sold-Out Nashville Show

“Anything Goes” on a Thursday night when Florida Georgia Line is in town. The reigning CMA duo of the year brought the fire (literally), party and some very talented friends along for their Dig Your Roots Tour in their first-ever headlining, sold-out show at Bridgestone Arena in their hometown of Nashville.

“This night is super exciting because we sold-out Bridgestone,” Brian Kelley of the group said at a party prior to the show. “It’s extremely humbling. We’ve worked really hard to get to this moment. This is the tour and this is the night we want everyone to see.”

The pre-party was an indicator of what was to come later in the night. The backstage room, which was decorated with flashing lights and red streamers, looked like it came straight out of a movie. A rocking DJ kept the tunes bumping as dancers entertained guests. And of course, the boys of FGL made sure the drinks were flowing, showcasing their very own brand of liquor, Old Camp Whiskey.

The momentum kept going and right from the moment they stepped on stage the energy in the arena was electric. Somehow, they even made their slower-tempo songs ignite a spark through out the crowd.

They took the stage a-blazing for their first number, “This Is How We Roll” as they were lowered from the ceiling surrounded by shooting flames and continued the party and pure entertainment until their very last song.

They played a steady mix of old and new tracks through out the evening, including a song from an early mixtape, “Itz What We Do.” Kelley and Tyler Hubbard showed mastery of the stage through out the set, going their separate ways to engage fans, and meeting back in the middle in perfect harmony.

“There’s no better place to dig your roots than right here in Nashville, Tennessee,” Hubbard announced to screaming fans as blow up trees emerged from the stage and they went into the song that shares a name with their tour.

As they wound their way through the crowd it was obvious Hubbard and Kelley genuinely love what they do for a living. Feeding off the fans’ positive reactions they brought their show to a brand new level and proved how far they have come in the past four years. The arena literally lit up with excitement, and cellphone flashlights, during “Get Your Shine On,” which resulted in what must have been a breathtaking view for the boys.

After giving a sweet shout out to their respective wives and serenading the crowd with “H.O.L.Y.,” FGL had a major surprise for everyone: 90’s heartthrobs Backstreet Boys. They came together to sing the BSB smash hit “Everybody (Backstreets Back)” followed by their duet on FGL’s latest album “God, Your Mamma and Me.” And no BSB performance would be complete without some classic boy band dancing, which FGL happily took part in.

The surprises kept coming as Jake Owen, barefoot of course, took the stage to help sing “Sundaze.” FGL treated guests to a medley of covers intertwined with adorable throwback pictures and a laugh-out-loud dialogue, including “Riding Dirty,” “Should Have Been a Cowboy” and “This Is How We Do It,” which coincided with a special thanks to their moms.

Before the show concluded, they had one more trick up their sleeves, not literally because Hubbard likes to show off his muscular arms in sleeveless shirts but just go with it. Nelly joined FGL on stage for their encore which included the Nelly hit “Hot In Here” and the single that started it all way back in 2012, “Cruise.” Bringing the show full circle as Hubbard said: “We dreamed about selling out the Bridgestone.”
