It’s not often that downtown Nashville is filled with nearly ten thousand people in the streets, but Monday (May 9) was no ordinary day. Rather than cars going up and down Lower Broadway and many working individuals bustling about, fans lined the streets awaiting a free show from Keith Urban on the Bridgestone Arena Plaza.

At approximately noon, the hitmaker ran onstage to thunderous applause and loud screams and kicked off his hour-long set with the banjo-laced track “Gone Tomorrow (Here Today),” from his brand new album Ripcord.

The high-energy show was filled with songs from the project, which was released on the previous Friday (May 6). Crowd favorites included two of his latest hit singles, “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” and “Wasted Time.” The four-time GRAMMY winner also played previous chart-toppers, like “Raise ‘Em Up,” “Somewhere In My Car” and “Long Hot Summer.”

Among the fans in the audience were kids who skipped school, professionals who called in sick to work, birthday girls, sorority girls, and many more. Some fans had even lined the stage the previous evening, claiming to have arrived at 5 p.m. Sunday.

It’s a big week for Urban. In addition to making media rounds in support of Ripcord, the singer also earned two nominations for the upcoming 2016 CMT Music Awards, one for Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year with “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16.” Fans can vote for their favorite videos at CMT.com.
