The 2016 Route 91 Harvest Festival rocked Las Vegas into late Friday night when it kicked off the first night of the three-night festivities.

Toby Keith took to the main stage just after 9:30 p.m. as day one’s headliner. The Oklahoma native brought a patriotic party to the center of The Strip with his songs “American Ride,” “Made In America,” and many others, which brought on a chant of “USA” from the passionate audience in the middle of his set. Keith continued to lace his hour and a half on stage with a number of his biggest hits and had the audience singing just as loudly back to him.

Prior to Keith hitting the stage was Billy Currington. It’s easy to forget how many hit songs the Georgia native has but as his set rolls on, you quickly realize how many great tracks come from his catalogue like “Don’t It” to “That’s How Country Boys Roll” to “Pretty Good at Drinkin’ Beer,” “People Are Crazy,” “It Don’t Hurt Like It Used To,” “Hey Girl,” “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right,” among others. Currington kept the covers thin (because he doesn’t need them) but wrapped his set with a cover of Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance With Me.”

One of the many highlights of the day included when Chris Janson rallied the crowd from the main stage. The “135-pounds of skinny white boy” (as he lovingly refers to himself) had the audience in the palm of his hand while he slayed on harmonica, proving once again that he’s certainly one to watch. Janson, who had a huge hit with his song “Buy Me A Boat” and is sure to have another with his heartfelt “Holdin’ Her,” convinced us yet again that he is one of the genre’s brightest new stars and an excellent entertainer.

Day one of Route 91 Harvest was stacked with numerous stellar performances on the main stage, including Jana Kramer, who packed her set with numerous sassy songs and a cameo from her Dancing With The Stars partner, and LOCASH, who brought a major party to the first set of the day. The festival also featured acts like William Michael Morgan, Aubrie Sellers and others on the Next From Nashville stage, which highlighted the best and brightest new acts coming out of Music City.
