Although the ACM Awards are all about celebrating the best in country music, it also allows everyone in the genre to appreciate the hottest fashion trends from the past year and upcoming future by throwing on some show-stopping ensembles.

By the looks of it, a number of the women who represented themselves for country music donned white-ish styles of all kinds from beaded gowns to fringed frocks. The guys also put their fashion together nicely, with snazzy button-ups and a plethora of suit shades blending together while walking the carpet. Nevertheless though, some people missed the mark on what’s hot and what’s not during this year’s festivities.

Best Dressed:

Miranda LambertSomeone call 9-1-1 because Miranda Lambert is absolutely SMOKIN’ in that red glittery gown! The fiery number stood out among the crowd for its bold hue, and made Lambert sizzle down the blue carpet. The scarlet shimmer looks nothing short of fabulous on the ‘Keeper of the Flame.’

Thomas RhettWhen the tie matches the loafers, it’s going to be a good night. Thomas Rhett opted for a cropped suit pant with a subtle pattern button-up to give off his fashionable flair at the awards. But the best style tip he embraced was the simple effect of a well-tailored ensemble fitting him like a glove and looking oh-so-handsome in the process.

Lauren AlainaWhat happens when you combine all things fresh, fun, cute and girly? Lauren Alaina’s black floral number, that’s what! The ACM New Female Vocalist of the Year teased her wavy ponytail up high to show off the scattered embroidery and gold shoulder spikes on her long sheer shift. Hitting her in all the right places (we see you, itty-bitty waist!), Alaina only needed one special accessory to take her outfit up a notch: her infectious smile.

Jason AldeanAnd to think we thought Jason Aldean would show up in his typical jacket and jeans look yet again! Stepping up to a whole new level of style, the singer went with the classy black suit-and-tie outfit to commemorate his nominations (and huge win) for the evening. Why his look soared above and beyond his fellow country friends was the fact that he didn’t ditch his roots by still rocking a hat and boots. Classic and country is the way to go, man.

Carly PearceIt seemed as though some sort of pact was made between country music females on the blue carpet, where white and silver were the only shades allowed out. Although Carly Pearce followed suit to a number of the women who stunned in their neutral tones, her modern fairy princess gown made her float with joy down the carpet. Nothing like some sparkle and a nomination to shine bright during an awards show.

*Honorary Mention for Reba*—All praise queen Reba as she changed multiple times throughout the show, and still fit into her signature red dress from the ‘80s. She deserves all the applause for squeezing into that number decades later, and still slaying the game entirely. You go, girl!

Worst Dressed:

Maren MorrisMaren Morris definitely sported that honeymoon glow that radiated throughout her time on the blue carpet, but she may have forgotten the fashion trends of now while escaping to the islands. The lighting effect on the dress just reminds us of those mermaid-like prom dresses from the late 2000s, and not in a glamorous way. If only the frock could have hit a few inches higher on the length, then maybe the redemption quality could arise, but it’s going to be a ‘no’ from us at this time.

Brian KelleyHonesty hour for just two seconds: We just can’t with the hair anymore. Maybe it’s a hint of jealousy that we can’t attain those wavy locks ourselves, but that doesn’t mean Brian Kelley needs to sport them either. The juxtaposition between the laidback surfer ‘do and his Oxford-worthy plaid suit doesn’t match, even though someone like Harry Styles may pull it off from time to time. It’s time for a cut.

Brittany AldeanWe understand it’s Vegas, which means anything can happen. But this multi-colored ultra-mini dress just should not have happened. Sorry to pull up our mom jeans for a soapbox moment here, but the length (or lack thereof) of the shift makes us so nervous that some sort of wardrobe malfunction is about to occur. It’s all cool to show off what you got and celebrate that, but Brittany Aldean definitely looks ready to party in Vegas, bachelorette-style.

Jennifer NettlesMost of you are probably thinking, ‘When does Jennifer Nettles ever land on the worst dressed list?’ The reasoning may sound rather petty, but hear us out: the red velvet gown isn’t necessarily bad overall, but we want to see maybe a tad more skin from Nettles now that spring has arrived. Next time, save that piece for the CMA Country Christmas festivities and then we’ll talk.

Keith UrbanSimilar to Nettles, it’s not like what Keith Urban wore was bad. It just didn’t compare to the rest of the guys who dressed to impress. Even Nicole Kidman looked as though she was attending the Golden Globes, while Urban fell right back into his edgy ensemble routine. Sorry Keith, but tuxedos already outweigh faded, ripped jeans.

The 53rd Annual ACM Awards were hosted by Reba, and aired live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
