What to Wear to the 50th Annual CMA Awards

Awards shows are filled with so many amazing moments from the honoring of the best artists of the year to the hilarious hosting that goes on throughout the show. But the best part about any sort of awards show season? Getting glammed up to hit the red carpet in the hottest styles.
Known as one of the dressier awards ceremonies, the CMA Awards have decided to step it up a notch by inviting all artists and guests to show up in their best black-tie attire. Traditionally, black-tie requires some of the fanciest ensembles with men in complete tuxedo looks and women taking the gown route for the night. But artists still want to show a little bit of their personality while strutting their red carpet ready selves, so they enlist the help of some stylists’ opinions to find the best outfits with the biggest trends to land themselves on the Best Dressed List of the night.
Heading over to The Showroom in Nashville, stylists Danielle Van Belkom and Kristin Geyser showed Sounds Like Nashville some of the trends they expect to see on the carpet for the 50th anniversary of the CMAs. Highlighting elements such as sequins and rich colors as well as alternative silhouettes to gowns like rompers and jumpsuits, the possibilities for someone walking the carpet seem endless for the night’s event.
“Because it is the 50 year and it is black-tie, don’t be too casual,” said Geyser. “I think you want to definitely, even if you don’t look like you’re going to walk the carpet, you want to look refined and you want to look like you fit in there. But don’t be afraid to wear something you wouldn’t normally wear.”
The ladies showed off some of their favorite numbers in the studio, from an edgy black high-low dress to a royal blue wide-leg jumpsuit and even a silver-and-black glittered fringe frock.
