The accomplishment marks a huge point in Montgomery Gentry’s career as a whole, following the tragedy of Troy Gentry’s sudden death.
Though Montgomery Gentry’s Here’s To You album wasn’t recorded as a tribute to Troy Gentry, its release certainly is.
“We said if anything ever happened to one of us, we wanted the other one to keep Montgomery Gentry going,” said Eddie Montgomery.

Country music lost many great artists and musicians in 2017, including Troy Gentry, Glen Campbell, Mel Tillis, and more.
“I’m anxious to get back out on the road and play some new music for our friends and fans,” Montgomery said in a press release.
Montgomery remembers the crash as “a horrific day,” which changed the course of his life and career from then on out.
Gentry’s bandmate Eddie Montgomery also paid tribute to his friend during the 2017 CMA Awards, surprising the audience when he joined Dierks Bentley and Rascal Flatts onstage to sing their hit, “My Town.”
Gentry’s wife and one of his daughters were in the audience, with his wife shedding tears as they sang her late husband’s famous single.
Their last album together as a duo, Here’s to You, will be released sometime in February.
“Troy never sounded better. This video is like a walk down memory lane for me and T-Roy over the years. So many great memories,” Eddie Montgomery shares.

Covering Montgomery Gentry’s 2002 hit, “My Town,” Little Big Town’s one-of-a-kind harmonies were put on display for all to hear.
Friends of Gentry say the track was deeply personal and autobiographical for the singer.
Family, friends, fans, and colleagues of the late Troy Gentry poured into the Grand Ole Opry House to pay their respects to the singer.
The NTSB has reported that the pilot “was unable to control engine rpm with throttle inputs.”
