At long last, Cam has released a new single from her upcoming sophomore album. “Diane,” a reply to Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” is a song co-written by the California native alongside her longtime collaborators Jeff Bhasker and Tyler Johnson.

“‘Diane’ is my response to Dolly Parton’s ‘Jolene.’  It’s the apology so many spouses deserve, but never get,” said Cam of the track. “The other woman is coming forward to break the news to the wife about an affair, respecting her enough to have that hard conversation, once she realized he was married.  Because everyone should be able to decide their own path in life, based on the truth.  Women especially should do this for each other, since our self-worth can still be so wrapped up in our partners.  And in true country fashion, I’ve set the whole raw story to upbeat music, so you can dance while you process it all.”

The song is the lead track from Cam’s yet-to-be-announced sophomore album. The project will follow her critically-acclaimed debut Untamed, featuring the GRAMMY-nominated track “Burning House.”

Soon, fans will get to hear “Diane” live as Cam embarks on on her headlining Best Coast Tour, hitting West Coast cities starting in the end of November and into December.
