Quarantine Q&A: Keep Busy With King Calaway’s Stay-at-Home Activities
The country pop musicians share their favorite ways to stay busy during quarantine.
Though the coronavirus outbreak has kept many country favorites indoors, it has not kept them from losing their productivity. All six members of country pop band King Calaway have found ways to keep themselves busy while in quarantine, whether it’s writing, making music, staying in shape or even binging new TV programs.
“I’ve been trying to find a productive balance during quarantine. Going for solo runs, writing a lot, cooking a lot and then kicking back with a beverage at night,” bassist Austin Luther told Sounds Like Nashville. “I sure do need a haircut though!”
Lead vocalist Simon Dumas has focused on music during self-isolation. “I’m spending my downtime at home just playing as much piano and guitar as I can, writing some songs and following Joe Wicks @thebodycoach on Instagram coz he has some awesome home workouts,” he shared.
Sounds Like Nashville caught up with the group to find out how the guys have been holding up and staying entertained. Check out King Calaway’s quarantine favorites below.

Movies I’m Watching: Toy Story and Forrest Gump. I recently re-watched one of my favorites the other day, The Producers. I love almost anything Mel Brooks puts his name on. I also played a very convincing Franz Liebkind in my high school’s production of the show.
TV Shows I’m Binging: The West Wing and Documentary Now. Currently, all I’m watching is Tiger King. I’m gonna be finishing it soon and then will probably re-watch it.”
Books I’m Reading: The Sun Does Shine by Ray Hinton, Bobby Kennedy: A Raging Spirit by Chris Matthews and The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.
Games I’m Playing: “FIFA,” “Madden” and “Jenga.” I’m also a big fan of “Golf Clash.” You will find me most days playing that on my iPad or some crossword puzzles.
Music I’m Listening To: I’m loving the new Kelsea Ballerini album as well as the EP Tenille Townes put out not that long ago. Outside of country, Childish Gambino, Thundercat, Run The Jewels and MUNA. Outside of music, I love a good podcast.

Books I’ve Been Reading: I’m currently reading Addicted to the Monkey Mind by J.F. Benoist. Really good book about understanding the way our minds work.
Games I’m Playing: The best game right now is FIFA 20 if it’s a video game, but I do love a game of Cluedo/Clue with the family.
Music I’m Listening To: There’s so much music – I feel like I’m listening to a different artist every day. Jordy Searcy is high on my list, I just got through Kelsea Ballerini’s album and I’m pumped to listen through Ingrid Andress’ debut album which just dropped.
