Emerging country artist Casi Joy is counting her blessings on her brand new song, “The Money,” and Sounds Like Nashville has your first listen for this exclusive premiere.

In the vibrant country-pop song, Joy reminds both herself and listeners of the very reason why she’s pursuing and doing what she does. Yes, money makes the world go round, but it doesn’t necessarily offer endless happiness—and the Kansas City native does a great job at reminding listeners of this truth.

“Well, I know I’ve got so many blessings in this life / Might not be a lot but I think I finally realized / It ain’t about the money,” Joy sings reflectively over an exuberant production bolstered by drums beats and groovy guitar licks. The message is important, but her light-hearted delivery makes it a perfect jollity tune with lyrical substance.

“This song is a fun take on the painful necessity of money, but realizing what’s important in life,” Joy tells Sounds Like Nashville. “I wrote it a while back when I was barely getting by, and every time my phone rang, it would be some bill collector reminding me of what I didn’t have. We tell ourselves money doesn’t buy happiness, but when we don’t have it, it’s sometimes hard to see the good things we DO have in this life when wolves are always at the door.”

The Voice alum adds, “Sometimes all you need is just enough for a full tank of gas, a cold drink, and good company. That’s when we realize the best things in life aren’t about the money at all,”

“The Money” is Joy’s first release of the year and follows her 2019 release “Overtime” and 2020 release “Poor Angel.” Proving to be a promising rising star in the format, the singer has shared the stage with country acts such as Keith Urban, Maren Morris, Carly Pearce, Easton Corbin, LOCASH and more.

Listen to “The Money” above as you get ready to hit repeat on the track when it drops this Friday (March 19)!
