Country singer Cole Swindell is back on top of the charts this week, marking the 10th Number One of his career with “Single Saturday Night.”

Written by Ashley Gorley, Michael Hardy and Mark Holman, the up-tempo tune had humble beginnings, but ended up becoming a COVID-era standout. All about looking back on the night that changed his life forever, its lighthearted storyline features romantic lyrics and a famous reference to White Claw seltzers, delivered with Swindell’s warm Georgian drawl. Swindell also released a socially-distanced music video for the track, filmed as pandemic lockdowns were in full swing.

“Ashley Gorley and Hardy sent me the demo for ‘Single Saturday Night,’ and I knew it was something I wanted to record,” Swindell said of the track. “I was missing the road and the live shows and wanted my fans to have new music from me. Once we put it out, their reaction was so big it pushed us to release it to country radio. I can’t thank country radio, the fans, and my team enough for making this my 10th No. 1 song. Still hard to believe! I can’t wait to see everyone out on the road.”

“Sitting over in the corner, baby, I saw / Pretty red lips working on a White Claw / Shaking to a little ‘Shook Me All Night Long’ / And I thought, man, what a beautiful sight / Ain’t a morning you don’t wake up in my shirt now / Even holding hands walking out of church now / Who’d of thought, baby, looking back that / That would be my last single Saturday night,” goes the track.

“Single Saturday Night” is the first taste released from what may ultimately become the fourth studio album from Cole Swindell, although the star has yet to announce a new recording project. Swindell has also released a live version of the hit, and will get back on the road this summer. He’s currently on the West Coast for a series of shows, and will join the bill for Thomas Rhett’s Center Point Road Tour kicking off August 20 in Bangor, Maine.
