Sunday night (April 2), Frankie Ballard stepped out with his wife Christina Murphy for the first time on the red carpet at the 52nd Academy of Country Music Awards.

34-year-old Ballard and 35-year-old Murphy made their debut as a married couple on the carpet just before “Country Music’s Party of the Year.” Ballard dressed in an all-black suit for the occasion, while his new wife added some color with a red two-piece ensemble adorned with gold stars. The couple excitedly, and adorably, showed off their wedding bands while posing on the red carpet.

“We’re so lucky and so blessed,” the country star tells PEOPLE. “We’re having a really great time. This is a memory, our first time on the carpet together that we’ll never forget. Once we were hitched up, I was ready to show her off. Put her in some sparkles and let her shine and show her off to the world.”

The “Young and Crazy” singer also admits that their Las Vegas trip serves as a honeymoon, seeing as they didn’t get to have an official one after their March 12 nuptials in Bee Cave, Texas. “We didn’t really have a honeymoon, so we’re really honeymooning at the ACMs and we are going to burn Vegas to the ground tonight,” he says.

Ballard recently released his latest single, “You’ll Accomp’ny Me,” a cover of the Bob Seger classic.
