James Dupré and Dustin Monk Face Off In ‘The Voice’ Battle Round

The Voice - Season 9

Despite Blake Shelton’s fierce battle to claim nearly every country singer who auditioned this year for The Voice, Adam Levine was able to steal on away from his grasp.

During the blind auditions, James Dupré auditioned and earned himself a four-chair turn. He originally wanted to choose Shelton as his coach, but with some convincing words, he ended up choosing Levine instead.

Dupré was teamed up with Dustin Monk for the Battle Round and was assigned to sing CCR’s “Fortunate Son.” The Lousiana native knew that his competitor fit more into the rock wheelhouse, so he had to step up his game. Though the battle round was not one of the best we’ve seen on the show, it’s Dupré who gets a spot on Levine’s team, following the recommendations of the three other coaches.
