Best & Worst Dressed at ‘The 49th Annual ACM Awards’
Brenna Mader, TV host, hair & makeup stylist, blogger, and former Miss Tennessee USA, is recapping the fashion at “The 49th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards.” Read below as Brenna highlights the best dressed males and females, as well as the worst dressed artists on the red carpet…
Best Dressed Women:
- Taylor Swift – Taylor Swift rarely ever commits a fashion faux paux, but she usually sticks to the same types of looks. I love that she did something a little bit different with this look and it totally paid off. She looks sleek, sexy, and fashionable – and I’m loving the new shorter hair! She could have a legitimate career as a model if this whole music thing doesn’t work out… 🙂
- Carrie Underwood – Carrie is another one of country music’s most fashionable. She is rumored to be pregnant right now and this fringed dress is a brilliant way to camouflage a potential baby bump! Is she or isn’t she?! Either way, she look GORGEOUS!
- Jewel – This look is everything I love – feminine, fashion forward, and little bit different with some subtle pops of color. Her hair and makeup is also on point. This might be one of my favorite looks from her!
- Kellie Pickler – Kellie always does such a great job of playing up her curves. She looks stunning in this lavender color and her skin is absolutely glowing! BEAUTIFUL!
- The Band Perry’s Kimberly Perry- This dress is gorgeous in photos, but was even more brilliant live on television last night. Perfect gown choice for her. I’m not usually completely sold on her hair and makeup, but everything about last night’s look was perfect on her!
Best Dressed Men:
- Lady Antebellum’s Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood – There is NOTHING I love more than a man in a good suit. These boys know how to wear a suit well and these suits are a fresh take on spring men’s wear. LOVE.
- Hunter Hayes – He always gets it right. Other men – take note! Dapper.
- Scotty McCreery – This is the first time I’ve seen him looking so grown up and GQ, I love the grey on him, bravo!
- Brett Eldredge – Brett is known for drawing inspiration from classics like Frank Sinatra. I think he does this in his wardrobe choices, as well, because he is always well dressed for big occasions. I love this tan, summery suit with the colorful pocket square. I think droves of other ladies would agree with me on this one.
- Thomas Rhett – Not everyone might agree with me on this, but I love that he took a fashion risk with the purple suit. The color is subtle enough that it’s not too loud, and I love that he put it with a bow tie. He stands out and he looks fantastic! It’s worth mentioning that I love his haircut and beard too!
5 Looks to Leave Behind:
- Jake Owen – Whoa. That red suit is a lot. It’s just… a lot. Love the fit, but the color looks like something you might see on a cruise ship waiter, or a Disney character, or something else not red carpet awards show worthy.
- Blake Shelton – This is his I-wear-it-to-every-awards-show vest, blazer, tie, jeans combo. Come on Blake, you’re a good looking guy with access to Adam Levine’s stylist. Let’s see you do something new with the clothes and maybe the hair too!
- Kip Moore – I am just so so so over ball caps on the red carpet. It doesn’t work for the occasion. Enough said.
- Frankie Ballard – I will say this… I love that this is a nod to some of the late and great legends of country music, but this whole look is attention grabbing in all the wrong ways. Had he done this look in more muted colors, he might have been able to pull it off! He does have a fantastic head of hair though!
- Martina McBride – She is so gorgeous, but this looks like a dated mother of the bride dress to me. Next!
