When country music comes to Vegas, anything goes! The fashion stakes up the ante and the hottest stars make their bets on getting all dressed up for their fancy night on the town at the ACM Awards.
While some of the ladies doubled down on their gorgeous gowns and risk-taking ensembles, the men suited up to stay classy and represent country music the right way while hanging out in the heart of Sin City. From quite the array of all-black looks to patterns and sequins aplenty, country artists rolled the dice with their fashion choices for the night.
Sneak a peek at who Sounds Like Nashville thinks swept the table with their high-class outfits and which get-ups didn’t quite make the extravagant cut at the 52nd ACM Awards.
Best Dressed – Women
Miranda Lambert: We wonder if it hurt when Miranda Lambert fell from heaven because her angelic look at the ACMs had everyone’s jaws dropping. The low-cut, white and gold dress radiated the happy smile Lambert wore all night long as she picked up a couple of trophies. Swapping a halo for a gold and silver spiked wreath necklace, it would be an understatement to say Lambert was gleaming throughout the ceremony.
Carrie Underwood: The queen of the carpet claimed her throne once again with her ethereal blush pink naked dress with sparkling silver leaf-like accentuations. Staying on the choker trend, Carrie Underwood stunned many in her divine dress as she waltzed her way down the carpet on a chiffon cloud for a skirt. Is there anything this woman can’t do? We think not.
Nicole Kidman: Nicole Kidman—actress by day, fashionista and supportive wife by night. Always trying out the style risks for the red carpet, Kidman donned an intricately beaded look complete with naturist patterns of animals and plants. The cream color of the number complemented her wispy blonde hair in a low ponytail to show off her Emerald City-inspired earrings. Only thing better than that? Having some hot arm candy like Keith Urban next to you!
Lauren Akins: Look up the definition of ‘glowing’ in the dictionary and we kid you not, you will find a picture of Lauren Akins from the 2017 ACMs in her shiny floor-length number alongside husband Thomas Rhett. Peeking her little baby bump to the world, Akins worked her pregnancy prettiness all night long.
Lauren Alaina: Um…hello, gorgeous! Lauren Alaina surely ‘blue’ us out of the water with her dreamy floor-length gown. With a chiffon train flowing behind her every step, Alaina nailed the effortlessly pretty vibe with beachy waves and just a patterned clutch to accessorize. Extra points for that braided waistline and low, open back.
Best Dressed – Men
Tim McGraw: Now this man can wear a suit! Tim McGraw got on the gray train well with his light grey jacket-and-pant look, complete with shiny brown shoes and a decorated maroon tie to match wife Faith Hill. And of course, it ain’t a McGraw outfit until the cowboy hat is on tight, proving the country superstar is the ultimate suave guy in the whole genre.
Keith Urban: Polka dots look ‘good on ya, mate!’ Keith Urban sported a black suit with a twist—mini white dots scattered all around, giving vintage what seems like a run for its money. Channeling his ‘Blue Ain’t Your Color’ music video look as well, Urban broke out a maroon skinny tie to, well, tie his whole ensemble together.
Dierks Bentley: 50 Shades of Grey indeed after looking at Dierks Bentley in his suit at the awards last night! The ACM host donned a light gray look, tailored in all the right places and complemented with a black skinny tie. While Bentley may have kept it simple for the night, there’s no problem with sticking to the basics when you look like that.
Jake Owen: It always seems as if Jake Owen brings the summertime vibes wherever he goes, and the ACM red carpet was no different this year as he kept it casual in a cool cobalt suit. Leaving the top button undone while rocking some sick shades, Owen looked absolutely ‘Beachin’,’ if you don’t mind us saying.
Dustin Lynch: You take the boy out of the hat and you make a man. Dustin Lynch opted for a pale blue blazer with black accents and a classic bowtie to show off his brand new debut post-hat. Although the accessory choice may not be permanent, it got us to see that pearly white smile clearer than ever and we’re not complaining.
Looks to Leave Behind
Kacey Musgraves: Kacey Musgraves is all about the vintage in her ensembles, but taking the material off your grandma’s couch from the 70s and turning it into a gown doesn’t work the same way. Molding to her body in an unflattering manner, Musgraves didn’t help the cause by throwing on a velvet bow choker to distract from the dress. Sometimes, things are vintage because they need to stay in the past.
Hillary Scott: Did someone tell Hillary Scott from Lady Antebellum that the ACMs were circus and/or pirate-themed last night? Combining the two for a red-and-blue patterned number created confusion for all who witnessed the piece, especially alongside the rest of the trio. Maybe feeling ‘knotty’ is not the best move for a red carpet look.
Chris Lane: Metaphorically speaking, Chris Lane’s floral suit was busier than a honkytonk bar in Nashville on a late Saturday night. For those of you who have never experience the chaos in downtown Music City, let’s just say it’s overwhelming just like that of Lane’s over-the-top ensemble. Think it’s time for Lane to do less.
Cassadee Pope: Is it just us or did Cassadee Pope forget the slip under her look? Yes, the nearly naked dress and mesh overlay is so in right now, but Pope seemed to miss the memo that you need to be more inconspicuous with the undergarments underneath. It’s going to have to be a no from us.
Josh Turner: It’s official—there is a thing as too much plaid. Josh Turner tried his hand at wearing something different by dressing himself in a three-piece blue plaid suit, which even haunts the mind of any golfer. Next time, just remember that less is most definitely more.
