Dolly Parton and author James Patterson teamed with Spotify to release a bookcast related to their upcoming, co-authored book, Run, Rose, Run: A Novel. The bookcast combines excerpts from the novel with sound elements and songs from the original soundtrack. Each song on the soundtrack was written, recorded and produced by Parton herself. The first two episodes of the bookcast are available on Spotify now, and additional episodes will be released weekly.

“I still can’t believe that I get to launch Spotify’s first ever Bookcast with my buddy James Patterson,” says Parton. “What a great way to reach out to listeners all around the world. When we wrote this book together, I felt I could contribute best by sticking to my first love, music. James and I hope that listeners will be able to feel the connection between the book and the album as we work to bring this story and these characters to life, as only two storytellers can.”

“I’ve been a fan of Dolly Parton’s storytelling for years, so I was thrilled to collaborate with her on Run, Rose, Run and bring these characters to life,” adds Patterson. “The music she’s created around this project is incredible, and I’m grateful that Spotify has given us the opportunity to bring listeners a new experience of the book and album.”

Parton shared the exciting news on social media, writing, “It was wonderful being able to sit down with @Spotify and @JamesPattersonBooks to blend our storytelling and original music.”

Run, Rose, Run: A Novel tells the fictional story of a female country singer looking to make it big in music city. The soundtrack will be released via Butterfly Records on March 4, and the book will follow on March 7. The soundtrack features 13 tracks, including previously-released “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans” and “Blue Bonnet Breeze.” Parton and Ballerini are set to perform “Big Dreams and Faded Jeans” at the 2022 ACM Awards on Monday, March 7.
