The holidays are a busy time for anyone so some turn to potluck parties to celebrate the season. While many pull out their favorite desserts recipes for their dish contributions, Trisha Yearwood recommends bringing something a little salty to counter the sweet.
“You know what I think is that a lot of people bring sweets to Christmas parties because everybody’s got a dessert. You gotta have something salty, so I’m usually the girl that would brings crock pot macaroni and cheese. That might not scream Christmas to you, but you got to have something salty in there. That will be the thing that will be gone, devoured,” Yearwood shared with Sounds Like Nashville and other media.
Mac and cheese may not be the first thing that comes to mind when planning a Christmas party, but what’s not to love about a pot of hot pasta covered in cheese, right?

8 ounces elbow macaroni, cooked
One 12-ounce can evaporated milk
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/4 cup (1/2 stick ) of butter, melted
1 teaspoon salt
Dash of pepper
2 large eggs, beaten
Two 10-ounce bricks sharp Cheddar cheese, grated (about 5 cups)
Dash of paprika
1. Spray slow cooker with cooking spray.
2. Mix in macaroni, evaporated milk, milk, butter, salt, pepper, eggs and all but ½ cup of grated cheese.
3. Sprinkle left over cheese and paprika over the top.
4. Cover and cook on low for three hours and 15 minutes.
5. After cooking, stir and serve hot.
Note: If you do not have a slow cooker, substitute with a 9×13 inch pan. Grease the pan with butter, add mixture and bake at 350 degrees F for 50 minutes.
