A Look Back At Past ‘The Voice’ Country Auditions

The Voice is set to return to your weekly schedule next week, so we’re taking a look the past blind auditions of the show’s country favorites.

Since its inception in 2010, The Voice has made significant contributions to the country world. Please note, if a blind audition isn’t included below, it’s due to the lack of video available.

RaeLynn

In 2012, RaeLynn graced The Voice stage for the time. At 18 years old, the songstress exuded enough confidence to perform “Hell on Heels” by the Pistol Annies, a group fronted by Miranda Lambert. However, the confidence was well founded as both Blake Shelton and Adam Levine turned their chairs around. RaeLynn chose Team Blake and went all the way to the quarterfinals.

Cassadee Pope

Before Cassadee Pope won the third season of The Voice, she had to audition. The singer chose Natalie Imbruglia’s “Torn” for her first impression and it worked. All four coaches turned their chairs, but she ultimately chose to be a part of Team Blake. Over the course of the show, Shelton convinced Pope to take her music in a country direction, leading to her move to Nashville after the win.

Gwen Sebastian

Singing Sugarland’s “Stay,” Gwen Sebastian convinced Blake Shelton, Adam Levine and Cee Lo Green to turn their chairs in season two. Although she was eliminated before the live shows, Sebastian forged a relationship with Shelton and his then-wife Miranda Lambert. She’s since gone on to tour with both.

Danielle Bradbery

In season four, 16-year-old Danielle Bradbery turned three chairs with her rendition of Taylor Swift’s “Mean.” Though Adam Levine and Usher both urged her to join their teams, she decided to go with Blake Shelton. At the end of the competition she became the youngest winner of the show.

Meghan Linsey

Country fans got to know Meghan Linsey in the duo Steel Magnolias, but the world fell in love with her when she went solo and auditioned for The Voice. Her rendition of Nazareth’s “Love Hurts” earned the turn of a chair from each coach but Blake Shelton. She decided to go with Pharrell Williams. By the battle rounds, she was picked up by Shelton and continued as part of his team all the way to second place.

Craig Wayne Boyd

Craig Wayne Boyd impressed two coaches with his audition of “The Whiskey Ain’t Workin'” by Travis Tritt and Marty Stuart. He chose Blake Shelton over Pharrell Williams, where he stayed until the battle rounds. After being eliminated by Shelton, Gwen Stefani saved Boyd, but lo-and-behold, he wound up back on Shelton’s team during the Knockouts and went on to be the season seven winner.

Season 10 of The Voice kicks off Monday, Feb. 29 on NBC.
