CMIL’s Top Five Moments of ‘The 49th Annual ACM Awards’
“Country Music’s Party of the Year” has come and gone, but that doesn’t mean we’re finished re-living the music, glamour, laughs, and surprises from the night!

5. Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan’s Opening Monologue:
“Bluke” returns! Superstars Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan returned to host the ACM Awards for the second consecutive year. The superstars’ opening monologue did not disappoint. Taking stabs at Jake Owen, Britney Spears, and Eric Church, “Bluke” had the audience, as well as fans at home, rolling with laughter.
4. Miranda Lambert Performs “Automatic”:
The reigning ACM Female Vocalist of the Year took the stage for the highly anticipated debut television performance of “Automatic,” the lead single from her forthcoming album, Platinum. The Texas native delivered a flawless performance and paid homage to her upcoming album while decked out in “platinum.”
3. Tim McGraw Debuts “Meanwhile Back At Mama’s” featuring Faith Hill:
Tim McGraw’s performance of “Meanwhile Back At Mama’s” was a highlight for a few reasons. Not only was it the debut of the song, but McGraw surprised fans with a special guest when his superstar wife, Faith Hill, joined him on stage. While McGraw’s performance started off a bit shaky, he came into his own when Hill joined him. What a great moment!
2. Garth Brooks, George Strait, and Miranda Lambert Pay Tribute To Merle Haggard:
It doesn’t get better than this! George Strait and Miranda Lambert took the stage to honor the great Merle Haggard, after being introduced by Garth Brooks. Following their performance, Strait and Lambert joined Brooks to sing “Hapy Birthday” to Haggard, who was celebrating his 77th birthday.

The fans have spoken! George Strait celebrated his second career win as ACM Entertainer of the Year. It was a special moment for the “king of country” and country music fans alike. Strait wraps his final tour next month. What a great way to send him off!
