Year In Review: 2014 Country Engagements
Several country artists are ready to say “I Do” after storybook engagements this year. Country newcomers Greg Bates, Dee Jay Silver and Canaan Smith are all ready to tie the knot with their longtime girlfriends. After a very publicized breakup in 2013, Brantley Gilbert and Jana Kramer have each found love again and are ready to tie the knot with their new partners.
Let’s take a look back at 2014’s Country Engagements…
February is the month of l’amour and that most certainly was the case for Greg Bates. On Valentines Day, the “Did It For The Girl” brought singer/songwriter girlfriend Shelley Skidmore to Shiloh United Methodist Church in Stanton, KY, the church she grew up in, to pop the question. Of course, she said “yes!”
Ground-breaking country DJ/remixer/producer and RCA Nashville recording artist Dee Jay Silver popped the question to Jenna Michelle Straub while on tour with Brad Paisley in Ft. Wayne, IN. Silver says, “I’ve always been told that when you meet the right person you’re gonna know it, and that’s exactly what happened. She’s my best friend and I couldn’t imagine life without her.”
Florida Georgia Line is about to become a duo of married men, after Tyler Hubbard announced that he and his girlfriend, Hayley Christine Stommel, are set to be married. In a sweet post on Instagram, Hubbard says “This is what a lucky man looks like right here. Not sure why but I sure am blessed to call this angel my fiancé. #loveisintheair #literally”
After a tumultuous start to their relationship, Jason Aldean and girlfriend Brittany Kerr are set to walk down the aisle. The Georgia native proposed to girlfriend Brittany Kerr this fall. They plan to wed “sooner than later.”
A little more than a year after ending his engagement to fellow singer Jana Kramer, Brantley Gilbert is ready to start anew with on-again girlfriend Amber Cochran. Gilbert made the announcement on the syndicated Bobby Bones Show this fall. He revealed that he’s known his fiancée for more than 10 years and that she is actually the girl that inspired several of his hits, including “More Than Miles” and “You Don’t Know Her Like I Do.”
Shortly after ex-fiance Brantley Gilbert announced his new engagement, Jana Kramer also revealed that she was ready to say “I Do” to boyfriend Michael Caussin. “It was a beautiful surprise,” said Kramer. “He was the perfect gentleman. Nervous, on one knee, and surrounded by some of the people that love us the most.”
