2019 American Music Awards: Country’s Big Winners
Congrats to each of the night's fan-voted favorites!
The 2019 American Music Awards took over primetime TV Sunday night (November 24) with a ceremony celebrating the best music of the year according to fans, and country music got its fair share of the spotlight.
Along with some fantastic performances, winners in multiple country categories were revealed with Carrie Underwood and Dan +Shay emerging with the most hardware. Underwood took home two more trophies (Favorite Country Album and Favorite Female Country Artist), bringing her career total to 15 AMA wins and tying her with Reba McEntire as the most awarded female country artists in AMA history, while Dan + Shay brought home the awards for Favorite Country Duo or Group and Favorite Country Song (“Speechless”). But it was arguably Underwood’s night. Her Favorite Country Album win marked her sixth overall, breaking the record for that category and extending a streak that has brought her an AMA Favorite Country Album trophy for each of her studio releases.
