AJ McLean Celebrates Lifelong Romance in ‘Boy and a Man’ Video

The Backstreet Boys’ AJ McLean tugs at heartstrings in the dreamy new video for his debut country single, “Boy and a Man.”
Directed by René Elizondo, the romantic clip finds McLean looking back over a long life filled with love. He starts out in heavy makeup as an older version of himself, flashing back to the childhood sweetheart which would ultimately become his wife. Emotions run high as the couple attend a high school dance, get married and ultimately spend their golden years together, with a cameo from McLean’s real life wife Rochelle and a lump-in-your-throat ending thrown in for good measure.

Written by Rob Crosby and The Voice’s Dave Fenley, the passionate, feel-good anthem is all about showing a woman the real difference between a boy and a man. It was produced by Jason Massey and marks McLean’s first official single on country radio, following the digital release of “Night Visions” and “Back Porch Bottle Service” last year.
The ‘90s boyband icon makes his country entrance after the Backstreet Boys were featured on Florida Georgia Line’s 2016 smash hit, “God, Your Mama, and Me,” and his first country album, Long Road, is expected in spring 2019.
