AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys returns with a sultry new country song called “Night Visions.” The track follows his debut country single, “Back Porch Bottle Service,” which dropped earlier this year. Upon the release of his new single, the singer has revealed an accompanying five-minute music video that serves as a mini movie.

Directed by McLean and longtime friend Rene Elizondo Jr., the clip was shot in Los Angeles and follows a couple building their life together. Unfortunately, unforeseen circumstances drive the couple apart but things aren’t always what they seem.

The video starts off with McLean’s music video wife visiting him in jail. “I can’t believe you did this,” she tells him solemnly. His response? “I would do it again.” A flashback scene then shows the couple’s budding romance and McLean learning that his wife is expecting. Their child is played by the singer’s real-life daughter, Ava.

“It was incredible having Ava in the video, it made sense since we needed an actress her age and she was a natural from the start,” he tells Sounds Like Nashville. “It didn’t hurt that the minute she met her video mom she fell in love, she thought she was a real life princess and they worked so well together. Added bonus, I got to have the family with me for the shoot!”

As the storyline progresses, his wife is working as a bartender when a shady figure is seen in the shadows stalking her. Later, McLean is shown at a crime scene where a man is dead after being shot. McLean is arrested, interrogated and imprisoned as his wife continues to live her life separately with a young daughter at home, waiting for her husband’s freedom.

Throughout the powerful video McLean showcases his acting skills. His soulful vocals are highlighted throughout the song with hand-snapped rhythms and ear-grabbing percussion. “Night Visions” was written by Brett Tyler, Brent Anderson and Tyler Rich, and produced by Tyler and Brandon Mashburn.
