Alan Jackson shares a tenderhearted tribute to fatherhood as his next single, sending “You’ll Always Be My Baby” to country radio.
Written in honor of his three daughters to celebrate their wedding days, the track stands as a heartwarming country ballad — sure to give any dad the feels. Built around Jackson’s classic-country tone and a slow rhythmic sway, it’s full of memories and hopes for the future, chronicling the circle of life. Jackson sings with fatherly pride and total devotion as he describes a young girl growing up, and going off into the world.
According to the country icon, he wrote the song for his oldest daughter’s wedding day, but the message applies to all three girls just the same.
“My oldest daughter Mattie got married four years ago [and] she wanted me to write a song for the father/daughter dance,” Jackson says in an official statement about the track. “So that’s where it came from. And I wrote it and then I told my other two girls, I said ‘Look, I’m just going to write one song and all three of y’all can use it for your dance if you want to.’ I said, ‘I don’t want to have to write three different songs.’ So, I’ve used it twice now.”
Adding even more heart-string tugging to the track, Jackson has also released a lyric video featuring family photos of him and the girls — Mattie, Alexandra and Dani.
“You’ll Always Be My Baby” is featured on the latest album from Alan Jackson, Where Have You Gone. He’s currently on tour with dates planned into the fall, including an October 8 stop at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
