Billy Ray Cyrus and Australia-born newcomer FIREROSE mark the dawning of a “New Day” with an intriguing collaboration, presenting a hypnotic new track tailor made for the post-pandemic era.

Written by the country star and emerging artist over Zoom, the track features a distinctly conflicted energy, mixing light and dark at the start of a fresh cultural chapter. With a shimmering indie pop sound, crisp beats and an uneasy vocal blend, the song is a pulsating slow jam — and its abstract video matches the vibe.

Featuring a chaotic montage of footage of both artists, it captures the uncertainty of our “New Day” just right. And according to Cyrus, his duet partner has much more to offer fans going forward.

“I learned a long time ago, persistence is to the quality of character of a human being, as carbon is to steel,” the “Old Town Road” hit maker says. “FIREROSE is the very definition of persistence, combined with a tremendous amount of talent as a songsmith, vocalist and producer. Her persistence has paid off, she’s getting her chance. That’s all you can ever ask for in this business. She earned it. She never gave up. I admire that.”

“Cyrus always says ‘nothing is as powerful as a song whose time has come,'” FIREROSE adds. “That really sums up this moment for me. I always believed my purpose would be fulfilled through music. I’m so excited for the release of ‘New Day’ and this timely song Cyrus and I wrote and recorded together.”

To celebrate the track’s release, both artists made special TV appearances, with Billy Ray Cyrus joining CNN’s aptly titled New Day morning broadcast, and FIREROSE dropping by Australia’s Today Show.
