Blake Shelton pulled a little overtime on his job at NBC’s The Voice last night (May 24), adding a primetime performance to his duties as one of four coaches on the show. Leaving his spinning chair behind for a few minutes, the country superstar showed off his current single, “Minimum Wage.”

Highlighting the first night of two-part season finale, Shelton’s invigorated performance gave viewers a musical pay day. He took a stage made up to resemble an old-timey gas station with his full band in tow, but there was nothing antiquated about the song.

All about following dreams and love being the only pay you need, Shelton pumped out quick-talking lyrics mixed with dobro, epic piano notes and pounding drums, cashing in with his latest romantic anthem.

“Your love is money, your love is money,” the arena-ready chorus goes. “You could make a man feel rich on minimum wage.”

Up next, The Voice will crown its season 20 champion on night two of the finale, taking place tonight (May 25) at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Shelton has two contestants in the running, and is also celebrating his 10th year on the show as Season 20 winds down.

“Minimum Wage” is part of the just-released Body Language album, and Blake Shelton will return to the road this summer. His Friends & Heroes 2021 tour will kick off in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 18, featuring Lindsay Ell and special guests Martina McBride, Tracy Byrd and Trace Adkins.
