Blake Shelton Planning NBC Benefit Concert for Oklahoma Tornado Victims
Oklahoma native Blake Shelton is working with NBC to put together a concert to benefit victims of the deadly tornado that ripped through the small town of Moore, Okla. on Monday.
Shelton revealed the news to Billboard following Tuesday’s episode of “The Voice.”
“We’ll know more about it in the next 24 hours,” Shelton said. “I’m hoping it will raise a lot of money. Obviously it will be televised and will happen really quickly.”
The superstar plans to call upon his friends and members of the music community to put together an all-star lineup. “I can call in some really big favors,” he said while point at fellow “The Voice” coach Usher.
Shelton grew up in Ada, Okla., which is about 75 miles south of Moore. Blake and his wife, Miranda Lambert, live about 100 miles from Moore in the town of Tishomingo.
The couple joined forces on “The Voice” for a touching performance of “Over You” dedicated to the tornado victims. Watch their performance HERE.
